AZ Foundation, USA is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Texas, USA. Our mission is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: no one should be denied quality healthcare or education because of financial hardship. We work towards supporting healthcare and education for financially challenged communities in Pakistan by funding, establishing, and sustaining free medical services and community education programs in partnership with trusted local organizations.

To fulfill this mission on the ground, AZ Foundation, USA partners with AZ Foundation Trust, Karachi, ensuring that resources raised internationally are translated into accessible, high-quality, and compassionate care for those who need it most.

OUR STORY

The AZ Foundation Story

In 1989, a young doctor named Kazi Uzair died of a brain tumor during his final year of residency in New York. He was twenty-nine. The friends he had trained alongside scattered across the world and built careers as neurologists, surgeons, and internists in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Thirty years later, they came back together with a shared resolve — to build the clinics he never got to build. Free, specialist, in the city where they all began. This collective vision led to the formal establishment of AZ Foundation USA as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, dedicated to delivering free healthcare and education to underserved communities in Pakistan.

From Friendship to Free Healthcare & Education

What began as a bond between medical students has grown into a network of free clinics serving Karachi’s most underserved communities. Every facility charges patients nothing. Every program is physician-led. And the work is far from finished.

The Foundation currently operates two free specialist clinics in Karachi through its partner organization, AZ Foundation Trust Karachi.

The Dr. Kazi T. Uzair Neurology Center, inaugurated in February 2024, delivers daily neurology OPD, physiotherapy, and weekly telemedicine consultations with senior neurologists from the United States.

The Dr. Raghid Farooqi Memorial Internal Medicine Clinic, established in 2024 in memory of a beloved colleague lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, provides comprehensive internal medicine, diabetic care, chest medicine, and psychiatry services — all entirely free of cost.

Together, these clinics deliver specialist care across seven medical disciplines to communities where such care was previously unavailable.

In 2025, the Foundation acquired a 2,000-square-yard plot in Ahsanabad, KDA Scheme 33, Karachi. This site will become the Dr. Kazi Uzair Clinic — a purpose-built specialty facility designed to expand the Foundation’s capacity across multiple disciplines.

Architectural and engineering planning is underway, with phased construction guided by community need and donor support. The Clinic represents the Foundation’s transition from clinic-scale intervention to institutional-scale impact while preserving the same principle: every patient will be treated free.

At its heart, the story of AZ Foundation is a testament to friendship, service, and shared purpose. Through free healthcare and education, ethical stewardship of every dollar, and unwavering commitment to the underserved, AZ Foundation continues to honor the legacy of those who inspired it — bringing healing, hope, and opportunity to those who need it most.
